Aswan Cataract Retreat
An elegant retreat on the granite rocks of the First Cataract, overlooking Elephantine Island and white felucca sails.

Where the Nile is at its most beautiful
Granite islands, white sails, colourful Nubian villages, the Temple of Philae on its island and Abu Simbel on the shores of Lake Nasser.
In Aswan the Nile slows down, curling around granite islands and palm groves as white felucca sails drift across it — a scene found nowhere else. Here stands the Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis and moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island in one of history’s great rescue missions, and the Unfinished Obelisk that reveals how the ancients quarried stone.
Some 280 kilometres further south, Ramesses II’s twin temples at Abu Simbel face the sunrise. On 22 February and 22 October each year, the sun’s rays reach deep into the sanctuary to illuminate the king’s statue — an astronomical spectacle that draws visitors from around the world.
We arrange a felucca sail around Elephantine Island and the Botanical Garden, a visit to a colourful Nubian village, and a stay overlooking the First Cataract — or a serene finale to a Nile cruise from Luxor.
