At the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where red granite mountains meet the Red Sea, lies Sharm El Sheikh. Here is Ras Mohammed, Egypt’s first national park, whose reef walls rank among the world’s great dive sites, alongside the four celebrated reefs of the Strait of Tiran.
Ashore, Naama Bay combines restaurants, cafés and a seafront promenade, the Old Market keeps its oriental character around the Al Sahaba Mosque, and safaris lead into desert wadis. For something more spiritual, a night climb up Mount Sinai for sunrise pairs beautifully with a visit to St Catherine’s Monastery.
