The White Desert protected area near Farafra Oasis is one of the most otherworldly landscapes on earth: brilliant chalk formations sculpted by wind over millennia into mushrooms, a famous “chicken” and billowing sails, turning from white to pink and gold at sunset.
On the way from Bahariya Oasis you cross the Black Desert, its hills capped with dark volcanic stone, Crystal Mountain with its glittering quartz, and the Valley of Agabat. Then comes evening: a Bedouin dinner by the fire and a night in camp beneath a sky so clear the Milky Way feels within reach.
We arrange 4x4 expeditions with oasis drivers and cooks and comfortable camping equipment, and can combine the trip with Siwa for a complete desert expedition.
