The Bride of the Mediterranean
The city of Alexander and Cleopatra: the Citadel of Qaitbay, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, an endless corniche and the finest seafood.
Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria was for centuries the ancient world’s capital of learning. Today it blends history with a Mediterranean soul — a sweeping corniche, European-style quarters and storied cafés.
The Citadel of Qaitbay stands on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders, while the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina honours the legendary library with remarkable architecture. Below ground, the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa show Egyptian, Greek and Roman art intertwined, alongside Pompey’s Pillar and the Roman Amphitheatre.
We arrange day trips from Cairo or corniche stays, with a fresh seafood lunch at one of the city’s celebrated restaurants.
